I greet you all.
I am very happy how African Community Project is moving along in Zambia. It
has been a month since I returned from a very successful trip, visiting our
projects all across Zambia. Maria joined me for three weeks which made it quite enjoyable. She was able to renew old friendships and make new ones.
Unfortunately, on this trip time had to be spent catching up with business in Lusaka. Just moving around in Lusaka is now a challenge with so many cars being added to a road system that has not improved since Independence. Some say it is development but sometimes I beg to differ; especially after spending ten days fighting the grid lock going from one appointment to another. My reward for this irritation was a productive week in Mumbi Village and the feel of the non-rushed atmosphere of village life.
JANUARY 2011 NEWSLETTER
Greetings and Happy New Year!
2011 is here and African Community Project is doing well and growing! This year will be my
10th year working in Zambia with some of the most dedicated and happy people I have ever
known. Robson Nyirenda a forester was one of the first people I met arriving in country and I
am proud to say he is now Country Manager in Zambia of African Community Project. Our
goal this year is to introduce more opportunities for communities wanting to manage their
forests at a sustainable and profitable level. More charcoal plantations as well as Moringa
powder orchards are being planned.
