African Community Project

Description:

I was invited to visit the villages of Mwamwando and Bufweme on October 14, 2003. I was accompanied by Frank Kalinga, the Chieftainess' zone chairperson. We met in the church shared by both villages. I was told through the interpreter that one of the big charities working in Zambia had given them money to build the school. I did not need to hear the rest; someone had miss appropriated the funds. This is a story I have heard often. Even some of the funds I have given has went this way. I am trying to get the charity to contribute more, I have my doubts. This is a big school, two classrooms and an office. The cost is high. What they need is cement to start. A few bags at a time, until the credibility of a building committee can be established. 25 bags at a time would be a start, at the cost of 250.00 US plus delivery.

LOCATION: High on a plateau at the base of Mount Nankanga. Central Province, Zambia

COST: From $300.00 US for cement to $12,000.00 US for the complete school..
