Back in Petauke

It is Sunday and I am safely back in Petauke from my trip to Lusaka. We finally arrived back here after a long trip. But the breakdowns are always part of the trip. With the load of blackboard blanks, paint and many other things, I guess the truck was a bit overloaded. We broke down just after the Luangwa River bridge at 1:30 in the morning so we slept in the truck, a little crowded for the three of us but the morning finally came. We had pulled over and parked in a Military zone and was greeted very early with some stern questions from a group of Zambian Police of why we were parked in the middle of their parade ground. I just told them that I knew we would be safe there and we had no other intensions. By 2:00 pm we had made temporary repairs and again started off to Petauke. The rest of the trip went good until a flat on the front axle slowed us down to a full stop again very quickly. The truck is now safely parked in the back yard and things are back to normal.
My friend Fred and his two colleagues arrived on time and settled in for a few days. He has travelled to Petauke to visit the old Ukwimi Refugee Camp that I wrote a concept paper on a few years ago. It was to create a town consisting of the Districts vulnerable families. The trip went very well and they will catch the plane to Nairobi tonight and continue to Geneva and Canada. Safe travelling my friends.
It is Sunday afternoon and after all the excitement over the past week I am sort off resting. Next week will be fairly busy with meetings here and painting more blackboards for the Community Schools
