Happy Holidays!

24 Dec 2009 06:13 pm

May I wish everyone the best of the season and that the New Year be a healthy one.
I look forward to returning to Zambia and Africa early in 2010 to continue my work there with some very special people. Although 2009 was a very challenging one for me in the health end of things; the project flourished. So it goes to show that change can come. African Community Projects motto is "by the community for the community" which has proven true this year. Zikomo kwambiri

Climate Change

19 Dec 2009 04:36 pm

Last night a storm so violent, passed through Mumbi Village. Rain and wind hammered the village for hours, something that has not happened in resent history, leaving people homeless.
What does all this mean? Who is on the climate change band wagon? Who is not? Is it true what people are saying? Are they qualified to make those statements both pro and con? Are we all being manipulated by the media? Questions that go unanswered. But I can tell you this! Life at village level is not getting easier, in fact perhaps getting worse. Rains come early, they come late. Erosion is continuing even to the extent of irreversible damage. Maybe it is just a weather cycle and nature will correct itself. Maybe not. I know this, that in the past there has been mass forests to balance things; now there is not. Planting trees will help swing the pendulum back to the centre and slow the process of climate change down.

Repot From Felix

07 Dec 2009 03:56 pm

The report I got from Felix was very good late last night. The new well at Nkhola Community School is on schedule. Lining the well will start later this week. Felix is also distributing seeds to the communities for the 2009 rainy season which will start anytime.
